Karuma have this week unveiled their new PlayBase Android tablet which has been specifically designed for children to use. It’s equipped with a 7 inch multitouch display and is constructed from metal rather than plastic providing it with a much more robust and child friendly construction.
The PlayBase tablet is powered by a 1.2GHz ARM Coretex A8 processor from RockChip, which is supported by 1 GB of RAM together with 8 GB of internal storage. It’s also equipped with built-in Wi-Fi and internal battery which can provide up to 5 hours of use from a single charge.
When it arrives in December the PlayBase tablet will come loaded with a custom themed Android Gingerbread operating system. But Karuma hope to upgrade this to a Honeycomb or Ice Cream Sandwich OS in the near future.
The PlayBase Android tablet will be available to pre-order on November 15th for around $270 and will start shipping on December 1st. More information about the child friendly PlayBase Android tablet can be found over on the Karuma website.
