Apple Planning To Add DropBox Like Feature To iCloud?

10:38 PM

Apple recently launched iOS 5 and iCloud, along with the new iPhone 4S,, in our iPhone 4S review, where we also tested Apple’s new iCloud service, we noticed one feature that was missing, the ability to store files in iCloud like you used to be able to do with Apple’s MobileMe service.

This is one thing that iCloud is missing, and a feature that many previous MobileMe users, myself included will miss, but it would appear that Apple may have plans to add some sort of file storage service into iCloud, possibly something similar to DropBox.

Apple iCloud

According to the guys over at MacWorld, there is a hidden folder in iCloud on the Mac, where you can drop files and they will then be synced with all your devices, which could mean that Apple plans to add this service to iCloud in the future.

Apple’s iCloud definitely needs some more, the ability to only store 1,000 photos or your last 30 days photos isn’t the best solution for people like myself who want to back up all my photos online.

Lets hope that Apple does add the ability to store any files you want on iCloud, as the way it did with MobileMe, and this hidden folder with the ability to do this could be a good indication that the service will be added to iCloud in the near future.
