New Tablet Tries To Lend A Hand To The Elderly

10:37 AM

For every product, there’s a target audience. The key is to finding out exactly what that certain group of consumers want or need. For MemoTouch LLC, they figured memory-challenged seniors might need a helping hand to keep track of some daily tasks.

The new memory assistant tablet offers a tool that specifically reminds senior citizens, especially those with short-term memory loss, of their doctor appointments, when it’s time to drink their medicines, and other pertinent tasks.

The Memo Touch is based on Archos 101 but it has been stripped down to the basics and now centers on its main priority, which is to give constant reminders to the elders in the family. Using the tablet, which comes priced at $299, excluding the required half or full year subscription, is fairly simple, according to Memo co-founder Carrie Beia.

“If they can watch TV, they can use a Memo,” she said. Family members are also able to add calendar reminders and other stuff on the tablet, making it more personalised.
