The Asus U47A-BGR4 is one of the U47 configurations and it has arrived in the US market recently.
The elegant silver aluminum-topped 14? slim-bezel notebook which belongs to the thin-and-light category. The Asus U47A-BGR4 in particular is powered by the 2nd Gen Intel Core i7-2640M processor, although Asustek officially says the U47 comes with the 3rd Gen. Anyway, the i7-2640M has better specs than the i5 chips, but on the other side it has only two cores whereas the most of the i7 CPUs have four. The i7-2640M has 4,091 PassMark score, while the fastest 2nd Gen i5 scores 3,836. However, if you want the 3rd Gen i7 variant, there are U47 models with the dual-core i7-3520M, which leaves the other CPUs behind with its 4,791 points. Apart from the CPU-only power, the newer chip has the integrated Intel HD 4000 graphics, replacing the much slower HD 3000, so in the graphics field the performance boost is significant.
The 4.4-pound U47A-BGR4 comes with a 750GB 5,400rpm hard drive, but this notebook series is also available with the same HDD capacity, but increased 7,200rpm rotational speed. RAM amount is respectable 8GB and unlike many laptops from the thin-and-light category, this one does have a built-in DVD burner.
When compared to some other configurations, the BGR4 has a few extras, namely Intel Wireless Display technology and Bluetooth.
