The Dell I15R-2106SLV, one of the Inspiron 15R 5520 configurations, is now on sale. It packs the 3rd Generation Intel Core i5-3210M processor, which is a middle-of-the-road model in the latest 3rd Gen “Ivy Bridge” CPU line. Scoring 3,913 PassMark points, the dual-core i5-3210M is way slower than the quad-core i7-3612QM with a score of 7,730 in the same benchmark. But, the i5 is sufficient for routine computing tasks, as well as media creation and it’s still faster than the 2nd Gen i3-2370M (3,242 points), which can be found in some other Inspiron 15R 5220 configurations. A newer CPU generation usually means a longer battery life, and that’s the case here also. According to the official data, the battery life is more than 6 and a half hours long. True, that run time is likely achieved with heavy use of battery saving system options, so you can expect less autonomy in the real life.
