This bipedal robot has the most human-like walk we have seen yet. Researchers Dr. M. Anthony Lewis and Theresa J. Klein have been working on developing an artificial “biarticulate muscle leg model” since 2008. The realism comes from the fact that the system uses motors pulling on tendon-like Kevlar straps to replicate the action of muscle groups.
This most recent model uses even more human muscle components and it is so close to a human walk that it is creepy to watch. The prototype weighs just 10 pounds. That’s ultra light for something that mimics human movement so well.
When the robots kill us, they will casually walk away just like us, on legs that we gave them, and probably have something witty to say too.
