The Sony SVE15115FXS from the consumer-oriented Vaio E laptop series is one of the middle-of-the-road configurations, touting a 15.5-inch display, the 3rd Generation Intel Core i5 processor, integrated graphics, 6GB of RAM, and a 750GB hard drive.
Sony’s Vaio range is well known for its nice design, even on the non-premium models, such as those belonging to the E-series. With a 1.39? thick chassis, the laptop uses the new “wrap” design, which you can see on the included images. The material used for the body is plastics, but there are also models in the 2012 E line with aluminum lids. However, the SVE15115FXS has one premium-like on-body feature – a backlight keyboard, with light emphasizing both key letters and key borders for an accurate typing experience.
This particular configuration in sliver color is focused not only on day-to-day computing tasks but also media creation, while for gaming the integrated HD 4000 is not an optimal choice. The 4000 is way better than the previous HD 3000, but lags behind many AMD and Nvidia video cards in gaming tests. The used i5-3210M processor from the latest Ivy Bridge family generally outranks the corresponding 2nd gen i5s in benchmarks, but for more computing power you can check out some of available models with the i7-3612QM quad-core. The above average amounts of RAM and HDD capacity, 6GB and 750GB, add more value to the notebook, priced at about $680 and at that price point you can hardly find a laptop with a backlight keyboard.
